Literary Translation

Danish & Norwegian (and sometimes Swedish) to English

I’m a working-class translator with an eye for detail and a passion for collaboration. Whether you are a publisher, an editor, an agent or an author, get in touch now to discuss your latest translation project!

I’m a native Canadian-English speaker, but I’ve travelled, studied and worked (in no particular order) in the UK for the past 25 years, giving me a solid grasp of British English. Since graduating from University College London with a distinction in Danish over a decade ago, I’ve been translating Danish, Norwegian and Swedish texts into English, everything from crime fiction to literary fiction, children’s books to cookbooks and design guides to footballer bios.

As the current chair of DELT (the association of Danish-English Literary Translators), I work tirelessly to promote Danish literature in translation. I’ve also served on the committee of the UK Translators Association and am a member of the Society of Authors.

Recent publications include the co-translation of an anthology of Faroese literature (February 2024, Dedalus Books), the co-translation of four short stories in Re-Imagining Sexual Harassment: Persepctives from the Nordic Region (2023, Bristol University Press), and Beowulf: The Tragedy Of A Hero. A Reading (2022, U Press, Copenhagen).

Prize nominations include the 2019 Dublin Literary Award for The Sixteen Trees of the Somme by Lars Mytting (also Waterstones Fiction Book of the Month in 2018) , and Vivian, longlisted for the Warwick Prize for Women in Translation in 2020.
